How can i take depth of field photographs if i have a regular digital camera?

Steph asked: I want to do depth in field sooo badly.
But,my dad has a regular digital camera look somewhat similar to this:

how can i do depth of field with these types of camera,if they’re not interchangeable lens.photo shop perhaps?
